Happy Thursday!

I went to the mall today to run some errands and of course I left with some new purchases! I need to stop walking through Nordstom because I always end up stopping at the MAC counter and salivating over all the new lines! I picked up two of the new Mineralize Eye Shadows. I love MAC's mineralize shadows because they are extremely sheer and light weight.

Fat Tuesday

My boyfriend lives across from Carlo's Bakery (from the show Cake Boss) in Hoboken, NJ. So this morning he went and got me some amazing sugar cookies to celebrate Fat Tuesday! My family celebrated by going to Friendly's for Dinner and eating some chocolate covered strawberries. Now that lent is here, giving up soda and junk food is going to be a challenge, but I guess that's what lent is all about. Is it Easter yet?

(Sugar Cookies)

(St. Patty's Day Cookies... taken from my iPhone before they were all eaten =P)

How did you spend your Fat Tuesday? Anyone go to Mardi Gras in Louisiana?

A Beautiful New York City Day

Sometimes a day in New York City can lift your spirits and cure your winter blues. Yesterday my friend Vida and I went into the city for Barney's Warehouse Sale (pics to come!) as well as to indulge in some yummy food! (I didn't want to bring my camera into the city, so these pictures are taken off my iphone sorry!) All in all the trip was really fun... and the macaroon was to die for!

(Hot Chocolate at City Bakery... the bakery from Sex in the City)

(Sushi from Monster Sushi... delicious!!)

(So many choices from La maison du Macaron)

(Almond Macaroon!!)

What kind of trip always lifts your spirits?

Indulging in Comfort Food

Sometimes you need to ditch the salads and indulge a little. For me, that has to be homemade chocolate chip cookies. My sisters and I have been making them for years and after all the different recipes we have tried, the best are from here. Simple and fantastic... that's the way to go!

(Instead of melting the butter, set your microwave to soften. This allows a better hold on your cookies.)

(Those bananas in the back are almost perfect for making banana bread!)

(The recipe says to beat the mixture, but a wooden spoon prevents the dough from becoming too fluffy.)

(Spotted: My JETS Flannel Pajama Pants...)

(All ready to eat! My sister's nails are the design from a can of Arizona Green Tea... she's so talented!)

What is your comfort food?

All Tied Up

Tank Top: LC by Lauren Conrad Jacket: Banana Republic Jeans: 7ForAllMankind Shoes: Bakers Nail Polish: Funky Fingers

I have been pretty good about curbing my shopping habits, but when I saw these booties at the mall, I had to indulge just a bit. Black booties are such an essential piece in a wardrobe because they are so versatile. I have worn them with skinny jeans and black straight leg pants, thus far. I hope to wear them soon with a spring dress or skirt. My sister painted my nails this weekend and I am in love with the pastel colors. I will have to do a post about them, she has a bunch from Funky Fingers.

Happy Valentine's Day

My boyfriend and I decided to spend Valentine's Day this past weekend. It always stinks when V-day happens during the week with class and work. We spent it in Hoboken at his place making dinner together, watching episodes of Homeland and going to an amazing mini-cupcake place Baked by Melissa in NYC. Then yesterday, we went to Atlantic City with some friends to see DJ Chuckie at MurMur at the Borgata Hotel. What a great last couple of days!

{Tie-Dye and Reeses Cup were my favorite}

{Left to Right: Chocolate Chip Pancake, S'mores, Red Velvet}

Winter to Spring...

Sunglasses: Ray-Ban Aviators Dress: Jason Wu for Target, Tights: Drug Store,
Booties: Michael Kors, Clutch Large Wallet: Zara

Studded booties and a fun clutch help make my pleated dress more edgy... more winter-friendly. Living in an area with four drastic seasons, it's nice to find ways to make pieces more versatile year-round.

How do you make outfits more season-friendly?

Jason Wu for Target

I woke up fairly early to ransack a nearby Target for Jason Wu's collection. I missed the boat on the Missoni raid... and was not going to let history repeat itself. Here is a glimpse of what I snagged in a mere 2 minutes before everything was gone! [Target limited purchases to 1 top, 1 dress, 1 bag and 1 scarf... =( there were about 5 tops I had to choose between]
{Some had been there since 5am... dedication!}

What do you think?
